This template was designed to work for any SaaS organization that wants to keep track of their most important metrics over the course of a 12-month period. There are far too many various back-ends that various SaaS businesses use so it was not possible to automate raw data with the input database of this spreadsheet. The answer was simple monthly entries.

I designed the database so that the user can go in and make a few high-level data entries each month, and then all the different KPIs and advanced metrics are derived from those inputs. This results in maximum usability for the most number of organizations and the lowest amount of time per data entry.

The user can toggle the year to view by simply changing the ‘Report Year’ input and to track multiple years, just make a copy of the dashboard tab and change the ‘Report Year’ input.

There are six visualizations that capture all the most important financial health metrics. The top chart is monthly MRR and churn rate. The bottom four visualizations are customer count by type, monthly churn by type, MRR Actual vs Goal, Customer Count Actual vs Goal. The chart in the top left is YTD total revenue by customer tier.

The template is fully unlocked and ready to go. Once you download it, just clear out the dummy data that is in the ‘Data’ tab and start tracking your SaaS key metrics.
