Vendor Guidelines

Here at eFinancialModels, we provide a marketplace where you can share or sell industry-specific financial model templates as well as provide financial modeling services. Our website is visited by different kinds of users such as entrepreneurs, business owners, consultants, CEOs, and CFOs. Our users are eager to find new quality Excel templates or Google Sheets to get their financial modeling tasks and projects done.

If you’re here, this means that you applied to be a vendor here at eFinancialModels and want to know what the next step to do. With your financial modeling skills, you are welcome to officially assist our users and potential customers by uploading and selling your own quality Excel financial models or Google Sheets via our platform. Therefore, to give you a proper step-by-step guideline as a vendor, please refer below.

Step 1: Register as a Vendor (if you still haven’t)

Of course, to be a vendor, you will need to register first. If you already did, you can proceed to the next step. Otherwise, you can register as a vendor here: Vendor registration.

Step 2: Wait for Email Confirmations

After registering, you will receive an automated email confirming your registration. Then you will also receive another email from one of our colleagues confirming your registration as well as provide you instructions such as asking for your CV and a sample model that you want to sell. Here at eFinancialModels, we aim to provide quality financial models so we want to get to know you better and your models.

Step 3: Complete your Vendor Profile

Please kindly complete your vendor profile by adding your bio and a valid PayPal email address to your profile. You can login here to access your profile. It is important that before you sell your model, completing your vendor profile is a must.

Step 4: Read Tips for Building Templates which Sell

Simply uploading your template will not guarantee that it will sell. So, we came up with a list of tips that can help our vendors maximize their profit. Have a read through of our article listing tips for creating financial model templates which sell. To give you an idea of how to layout your financial model template as well as marketing your product properly, you can refer to our guideline here: How to Sell Financial Model Templates.

Step 5: Uploading a Product

Now that you are ready, please proceed to the Vendor Dashboard to add your very first product and upload it on our platform. Please keep in mind that before we put your financial model template live, we will be manually reviewing your financial model to ensure:

  • If all formulas and calculations are clearly visible and transparently stated
  • No Locked Cells or Password Protection on the Worksheets
  • No Circular References as it appears as errors for the Users
  • No External Links added to the template to make sure the template can be used as a standalone and mostly offline use or extra advertising to outside platforms.
  • If your model uses Macros, you need to mention this in the description and mark it with the use case “Macros”. Then include a Macro Documentation as a file upload together with the Excel template file. Please read more about Macro Documentation here: How to Create a Macro Documentation.
  • If you added an appropriate description regarding the template and if you added explanatory images or screenshots
  • If the model works and follows a logic
  • Use the English Language as the main language for the model template and description. This is very important as users from different countries will use the template.
  • Most importantly, cross-referencing the template if there’s any copyright violation

To know how to upload and sell your financial model templates, please refer here: How to Upload and Sell your Financial Model Templates.

Step 6: Sales and Payments

As you registered as a vendor, you should’ve already seen the agreement regarding the payments. Once again, the arrangement is 70/30 where you get 70% worth of the sale while we get 30% as a commission. The schedule for receiving payments from the sales is at the beginning of the following month through PayPal or (if you request it) directly to your bank account.

The payment will be paid to the PayPal account you entered in your Vendor Profile so please ensure that you filled in the right PayPal account.

Step 7: After Sales Requests / Assistance

In some cases, our users request help in fine-tuning the models and customizing them according to their specific use cases. So, depending on the available templates and expertise or availability of the vendor, we will reach out to forward the customer request and determine if you are interested in providing financial modeling services. If you are willing, we can arrange a product deal like these package deals here: Custom Financial Modeling Services. For this, we will require you to tell us your hourly rate, and then instead of a 30% commission for us, we will apply the tiered commission explained below:

Tiered Commission Rates.
When selling a service that requires spending time on a customer’s project, our fees depend on the order value of the customer:

  • Tier 1 Custom Services – Order values up to $500 will be charged with a 20% commission fee.
  • Tier 2 Custom Services – Order values above $500 and up to $1,000 will be charged with a 15% commission fee.
  • Tier 3 Custom Services – Order values exceeding $1,000 will be charged with a 10% commission fee.

Please note the above commission scheme takes into account cumulative orders. This means if a customer already exceeded the $1,000 order threshold and orders again for $400, we still apply the Tier 3 commission rate of 10%.

Step 8: Push your Sales

Be proactive and push your sales! Why not share your product link via Social Media? It might be of interest to followers of your social media channels to know more about your latest products. Take this opportunity to earn more by simply sharing the link to your product pages on your social media accounts or website.

Step 9: Idea for your next Template

Make use of your financial modeling skills and don’t settle for only one product, sell multiple templates that can help you generate income effortlessly. To give you an idea of what kind of model templates you should build, simply refer here: Missing a Financial Model Template. There, you will see a list of demands and requests from our users / customers who were looking for the said templates. You can, of course, showcase what industry you are best at as well as certain use cases with your next templates. It is, after all, better to build financial model templates you’re best at.

With this guideline, we hope that we’re able to help you go through the process of being a vendor much easier. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
