Video Overview:

No matter if you are starting a new elder tech in-person class business, fitness classes, or scaling online educational classes, this financial model has robust configurations that produce financial reports for up to a 10-year period. This template was in my top 3 for the most difficult revenue logic to build and think through. The user will be able to seamlessly drop in their assumptions about the pricing and capacity of various course offerings. Each course type (up to 3) has its own configuration for how many classes are added over time, their capacity, capex requirements, and length of time to complete the class.

For variable costs, everything is based on the frequency at which classes take place and the various costs to complete each course. This includes things like instructor fees per class, materials, and three other possible cost categories. Each course type has separate configurations for these variable costs as well. For fixed costs / operational overheads, marketing spend, research and development, and things of that nature, there is a robust schedule to define the start month of each cost type, the description, and the monthly amount (adjustable by year).

All the above come together in a clean monthly and annual pro forma as well as a fully integrated 3-statement model (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows). This makes the story of your education business easy to explain based on strategy and scale over time. Users of the model can see all revenue sources, capacity achievement, the resulting gross profit, and IRR.

There is also an executive summary to display financial expectations on an annual basis, from revenue down to capex and cash flow. I included many visualizations as well as output metrics like IRR, ROI, MOIC, and NPV.

Use this model to easily configure various pricing and cost scenarios, as well as the volume of classes and different capacity attainment curves, to see what is financially feasible.
