Video Overview:

All businesses have expenses, and they can get out of hand. One way to stay prudent is to keep track of your monthly expenses and compare them to a defined budget. This simple tool makes it easy to do that.

The spreadsheet is built in Google Sheets and Excel (the Google Sheet access link is in the download file)

The template features include:
– Up to 250 unique expense categories can be tracked (very easy to expand if needed)
– Calculations and formulas are simple, and the sheet itself can handle 40/50k rows of data without much trouble
– Data entry is simple (expense description, date, amount, category)
– Automated reports show the detail of any selected category filtered by date and amount
– Visualizations on a monthly and annual basis show the actual expenses against a defined budget per period

Sometimes the road to profitability can mean keeping a good handle on your expenses. If you are not tracking them, they may balloon.

Note, the Excel version also uses filtering dynamic arrays, but if you want to use those last two tabs, it requires Office 365 and to be in the ‘Office Insiders’ program.

All reports show expenses by month and by year per each category.
