10-Project Financial Modeling Platform – Canada & US
The 10-Project Financial Modeling Platform is an Excel-based training and decision-support tool designed to help users understand project finance, investment evaluation, and driver-based financial modeling across selected industries in Canada and the United States. The workbook is built around 10 pre-configured project templates, each with editable project identity fields including project name, industry, sector, sub-sector, and mode of finance. Each project also includes 10 main drivers covering CAPEX, OPEX, and Revenue, supported by detailed sub-driver assumptions that help users understand the logic behind each financial input.
A key feature of the model is that the pre-configured project setup is not fixed. Users can edit the project name, industry, sector, sub-sector, mode of finance, main drivers, units, base quantities, base values, and supporting driver details, then save the updated configuration back to the built-in Sector_Library database using the VBA Save Project workflow. This makes the model useful not only as a ready-made template, but also as a customizable learning platform for building and refining project evaluation cases.
The model calculates both Project IRR and Equity IRR, allowing users to compare unlevered project performance with levered investor returns. It also includes Project NPV, Equity NPV, scenario analysis, Monte Carlo simulation, EVA/value creation analysis, debt service indicators, leverage impact analysis, health checks, and board-style summary outputs. The structure helps users see how project assumptions, capital investment, operating costs, revenues, financing terms, taxes, depreciation, and debt repayment affect overall investment returns.
The workbook is designed for practical learning and analysis. Users can test Base, Low, and High scenarios, review the impact of different assumptions, assess whether leverage improves or weakens equity returns, evaluate downside risk through Monte Carlo simulation, and review model integrity through the built-in Health Check system. The Board Summary and Scenario Summary sheets provide a clear presentation-style view of key outputs, making the model useful for training, internal discussions, classroom exercises, and early-stage project evaluation.
This platform is especially suitable for finance students, junior analysts, consultants, entrepreneurs, small business owners, instructors, and training programs that want a hands-on Excel tool for understanding how multi-sector project finance models are structured. It can also help users practice investment decision-making, compare projects, understand the relationship between project returns and equity returns, and learn how driver-based assumptions flow through a financial model.
The model is provided as a practical educational and analytical tool. It is not intended to replace professional financial, legal, tax, engineering, or investment advice. Users should review and validate all assumptions before relying on the outputs for real investment or business decisions.
