Step 1: Register as a Vendor (if you still haven’t)

Of course, to be a vendor, you will need to register first. You can proceed to the next step if you have already done so. Otherwise, you can register as a vendor here: Vendor registration.

Step 2: Email our Support Team for Confirmation

After registering, you will receive an automated email confirming your registration. The next step would be for you to send an email to our Support Team and include some details about yourself, such as your CV and the model you want to sell. Here at eFinancialModels, we aim to provide quality financial models, so we want to get to know you better and your models.

Step 3: Complete your Vendor Profile

Please kindly complete your vendor profile by adding your bio and a valid PayPal email address to your profile. You can login here to access your profile. It is important that before you sell your model, you complete your vendor profile.

Step 4: Read Tips for Building Templates which Sell

Simply uploading your template will not guarantee that it will sell. So, we came up with a list of tips to help our vendors maximize their profit. Have a read-through of our article listing tips for creating financial model templates which sell. To give you an idea of how to lay out your financial model template as well as market your product properly, you can refer to our guidelines here: How to Sell Financial Model Templates.

Step 5: Uploading your Financial Model Template

Now that you are ready, please proceed to the Vendor Dashboard to add your very first product and upload it on our platform. Please keep in mind that before we put your financial model template live, we will be manually reviewing your financial model to ensure:

Template Quality Standards

1. Transparency and functionality:

  • Clearly indicate where users should input assumptions for ease of use.
  • All formulas and calculations must be visible and transparently stated.
  • No locked cells or password-protected worksheets.
  • Avoid circular references and #REF errors, and ensure that formulas are robust and not affected by potential user customizations.
  • Include example data or assumptions to demonstrate functionality and provide a reference point for users.
  • Remove External Data Connections or Data Links that will affect the template once the customer customizes the model according to their specifications.

2. Independence of use: Templates must not contain external links to ensure they work as standalone products and offline.

3. Language: Use English as the primary language for the template and its description to cater to an international audience.

4. Enhanced Product Descriptions: Your product description must include at least 300 words and address the following:

  • What is the model template for?
  • What is included in the template?
  • How can the template be used?

Providing a clear and detailed description will help potential users understand your product, increasing traffic and conversions.

5. Pricing and copyright compliance:

  • The pricing must match or be lower than the price of the same product on other platforms (e.g., your website or store).
  • Verify that the template does not violate any copyright laws.

6. Free PDF Preview: For Templates Priced at $100 or More: We require uploading a free PDF preview to showcase the layout and functionality for higher-priced templates. This helps users gain confidence in the product before making a purchase. This also helps against unfair claims or refund disputes after sales.

Use of Macros

  • If your model uses Macros, you need to mention this in the description and mark it with the use case “Macros”.
  • Then, include a Macro Documentation as a file upload together with the Excel template file.
  • Please read more about Macro Documentation here: How to Create a Macro Documentation.

Clone Models

Financial Model Templates with nearly identical model structures but different labels or assumptions are considered clone models. We do allow publishing such models on eFinancialModels in principle, but we require that this fact be properly disclosed in the product description.

Furthermore, customers who purchase the same model two times (e.g., the parent model and its clone) have the right to get a refund if they purchase the same model twice.

Therefore, we request that you disclose that these templates are clone models to ensure customers are not charged twice for the same model.

To learn how to upload and sell your financial model templates, please refer to the following: How to Upload and Sell your Financial Model Templates.

Step 6: Sales and Payments

As you registered as a vendor, you should’ve already seen the payment agreement. Once again, the arrangement is 70/30, where you get 70% of the sale while we get 30% as a commission. The schedule for receiving payments from the sales is at the beginning of the following month through PayPal or (if the total commission is over $1000) directly to your bank account using Wise.com.

Initially, the payment will be made to the PayPal account you entered in your Vendor Profile, so please ensure that you have filled in the right PayPal account. For bank transfers, please contact our support team for more details.

Step 7: After-Sales Requests / Assistance

In some cases, our users request help in fine-tuning the models and customizing them according to their specific use cases. So, depending on the available templates and expertise or availability of the vendor, we will reach out to forward the customer request and determine if you are interested in providing financial modeling services. If you are willing, we can arrange a product deal like these package deals here: Custom Financial Modeling Services. For this, we will require you to tell us your hourly rate, and then, instead of a 30% commission for us, we will apply the tiered commission explained below:

Tiered Commission Rates.
When selling a service that requires spending time on a customer’s project, our fees depend on the order value of the customer:

  • Tier 1 Custom Services – Order values up to $500 will be charged with a 20% commission fee.
  • Tier 2 Custom Services – Order values above $500 and up to $1,000 will be charged with a 15% commission fee.
  • Tier 3 Custom Services – Order values exceeding $1,000 will be charged with a 10% commission fee.

Please note that the above commission scheme takes cumulative orders into account. This means if a customer already exceeded the $1,000 order threshold and orders again for $400, we still apply the Tier 3 commission rate of 10%.

Step 8: Push your Sales

Be proactive and push your sales! Why not share your product link via Social Media? It might interest followers of your social media channels to know more about your latest products. Take this opportunity to earn more by simply sharing the link to your product pages on your social media accounts or website.

Step 9: Idea for your next template

Make use of your financial modeling skills and don’t settle for only one product, sell multiple templates that can help you generate income effortlessly. To get an idea of what kind of model templates you should build, simply refer to the following: Missing a Financial Model Template. You will see a list of demands and requests from our users/customers looking for the templates there. You can, of course, showcase what industry you are best at as well as certain use cases with your next templates. It is, after all, better to build the financial model templates you’re best at.

With this guideline, we hope that we’re able to help you go through the process of being a vendor much easier. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
